Information pertaining to relatives and contact persons
As an employer, the Swedish Coast Guard may need to get in touch with a relative of an employee in the event of an accident or illness that occurs during working hours.
Processing relatives’ personal data for this purpose is necessary and takes place under the legal basis of public interest.
It is the employee of the Swedish Coast Guard who specifies which relative should be included in the register. A person listed as a relative will be informed that their personal data is being processed by the Swedish Coast Guard for this purpose. The information is held by the Swedish Coast Guard for as long as the employment lasts or until otherwise announced. Only a limited number of people within the Swedish Coast Guard have access to the data and the information is not shared with anyone outside the Swedish Coast Guard.
Contact persons
The Swedish Coast Guard also processes personal data in the form of a relative’s contact information if a person travels on one of our vessels. This is also to be able to get in touch with a relative or other contact person in the event that the person should fall ill or there is an accident. The legal basis for the processing of personal data is public interest. The data is only processed for a limited period of time and is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed. Only a limited number of people within the Swedish Coast Guard have access to the data and the information is not shared with anyone outside the Swedish Coast Guard.
The Swedish Coast Guard is the data controller for the above processing. If, as a data subject, you wish to exercise your rights, such as requesting access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, you can contact dataskyddsombud@kustbevakningen.se. Read more here about how to proceed.
