Your rights as a data subject
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides you, as a data subject, several rights. To exercise your rights, you can contact our Data Protection Officer by e-mail dataskyddsombud@kustbevakningen.se
As a data subject, you have the right, among other things, to receive information about the processing that takes place, to have your personal data corrected and, in some cases, to have the data deleted. However, there are some exceptions regarding the obligation to provide information with respect to the Swedish Coast Guard.
If personal data is obtained from a source other than the data subject and the receipt or disclosure of the data is expressly prescribed by law, the data is exempt from the obligation to provide information.
If the personal data is collected directly from the data subjects, they can, among other things, be exempted from the obligation to provide information if the data subject is presumed to be aware that the data is being processed by the authority.
Read more below about your rights.
The right to register extracts
As a data subject, you have the right to request a so-called register extract to receive information about how the Swedish Coast Guard processes your personal data. As mentioned above, there may be some restrictions as to what information you may have access to. If you would like to request a register extract, you can contact us through our Data Protection Officer. See the contact information to our Data Protection Officer below.
The right to rectification
As a data subject, you have the right to have incorrect or incomplete personal data corrected or supplemented.
The right to submit an objection
When the Swedish Coast Guard processes personal data within the framework of exercising its official authority or in order to be able to perform other tasks in the public interest, you have the right to object to the processing at any time. If we cannot demonstrate that there are compelling, legitimate grounds to continue processing the data, we must cease the processing.
The right to restriction of the processing of data
In certain cases, for example if you have objected to the processing of data, you have the opportunity to demand the restriction of the processing of your personal data. By requesting a restriction, you have the possibility, at least for a certain time, to stop the Swedish Coast Guard from using the data other than, for example, to defend legal claims. You can also prevent the authority from deleting the data, for example, if you need the data to claim damages.
The right to deletion
In some cases, you can have your personal data deleted. When your personal data is needed for the Swedish Coast Guard to be able to fulfil its mission or is stated in a public document, it is not possible for the Swedish Coast Guard to delete the data.
The right to data portability
If the Swedish Coast Guard processes personal data about you in order to fulfil an agreement, you may in some cases be able to obtain personal data that relates to you in order to use it elsewhere, for example by transferring the data to another personal data controller.
If you would like to provide feedback on the Swedish Coast Guard’s processing of your personal data
If you would like to provide feedback on how the Swedish Coast Guard processes your personal data, you should, in the first instance, contact the Swedish Coast Guard. You can do this by contacting the authority’s data protection officer. See below for contact information for the Data Protection Officer. If you are not satisfied with the response we have given you, you can contact the supervisory authority to lodge a complaint.
