Operation Triton

Operation Triton is support to Italy, which has long experienced a high pressure against its limit. Many people displaced have sacrificed their lives in the ocean, which in practice means that the border guards in the part most cases turns into rescue. KBV 001 brings equipment to take care of many people on board and the safe and secure them to the ground.

The Coast Guard has previously participated with ships and aircraft in the Mediterranean. Aviation has the ability to search large ocean areas and long distance detection of small boats who need help. This allows ships to reach the scene in time, before disaster strikes. It is also what the Coast Guard ships now do: taking care of people in need on board.

From 1 June to 31 August 2015 was attended KBV 001. Flying involved with KBV 501 began its flights from Italy April 1, 2016.
