High level of terrorist threat in Sweden

The terrorist threat level has been raised to High in Sweden, a four on a five-point scale. The background is a deteriorating situation regarding the threat of attacks against Sweden. The Swedish Security Service assesses that the threat will persist for a long time.
The increase is not due to any single event but should be seen in a strategic and long-term perspective. The increase is a signal to all relevant actors in society of the importance of continuing the work to reduce the risk of a terrorist attack occurring.
Part of society’s emergency preparedness in the maritime environment
For some time now, the Swedish Coast Guard has been conducting regular operations with heightened vigilance. We contribute to a safer Sweden, for example, through environmental and other rescue services, maritime surveillance from our ships and aircraft, participation in the Swedish Police Authority’s border surveillance, control of maritime traffic and close collaboration with our other partner authorities.
